English Conversation Class

We hold an English Conversation Class every Thursday from 6:30 p.m., taught by Mr. Robert Edward Shiffer. He is an American instructor with a master’s degree in teaching English to non-native speakers. He currently teaches several subjects at an international school. In a friendly atmosphere, participants can enjoy practicing English conversation with a native speaker’s pronunciation.

Each 90‑minute lesson is offered at the attractive rate of 2,000 yen (for MUA members). The classroom is conveniently located just a three‑minute walk from Shimbashi Station. Practicing spoken English once a week is an excellent way to strengthen the “listening and speaking” skills that many Japanese learners find challenging. Our goal is to help participants develop English proficiency useful in business and to help them enjoy free and lively communication with people from overseas.

Japanese Language Class

To support foreign residents in Japan and promote mutual cultural understanding, we launched a Japanese Language Class in October 2020. A qualified instructor teaches the basics of Japanese, using textbooks and explaining the material in English. Frequently used everyday expressions are also taught, making the lessons particularly effective for English speakers and for those who wish to start using Japanese right away.
